How to Make Foaming Hand Soap Refills

by Katie on April 11, 2012

Did you know that you can refill foaming hand soap? Yep – you sure can, and it will save you lots of money!

Here is what you need:
Empty foaming hand soap container
Regular hand soap

Start out by pouring about 1 inch of regular soap into the foaming soap container. Now fill it up with warm water and give it a shake (with the lid on of course :)). There you have it…a brand new foaming soap container for the fraction of the cost of a new one!

Yes!! I’ve been doing this for a year or two, and it works so well and saves so much money!

I recommend putting in the water first and then the soap, though. Otherwise, when you add the water, it foams up so that you can’t fill it all the way.

Becca, thanks for the great tip :) I will have to try it that way, because you are right…it foams a lot!!

I’ve done this too (it’s the Mamaw coming out in me!!!! F-R-U-G-A-L :)

I’ve had a problem with the pump sticking somewhat after refilling a couple of times tho……is there a way to fix that???

Hmmm…well I’m only on my second refill and I haven’t had this happen to me. Sorry I’m no help :(

Hi There, found you through frugal fridays. this is a great tip! I prefer foam for hand-washing but have never bought them because I figured it was a waste of money. But now I can see I can buy a foam pump and then just refill it with regular- super cool!

Hi Nicole! I was always to cheap to buy them…but I got one as a gift and LOVED it!

If you’ll take the pump off and run it under hot water, working the pump mechanism, you should be able to fix that sticking pump. It’s probably just soap buildup.
