I hope you all had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year! I have to say that I’m glad it’s all over. I like the simplicity that January brings. After all of the hustle and bustle and Christmas clutter, I look forward to putting it all away and slowing down a bit.
I’ve decided that I’m going to slow down even more this by taking January off from blogging. I’ve been at this for 3 years, and I love it, but occasionally it feels like writing is just another thing to cross off, rather than a creative outlet that I enjoy. SO – that’s why I’m stepping away for a short time to refresh my mind. I will be right back it in February!
The blog started out as my way to share how I save money and shop on $40 a week. It was founded on coupon deals, freezer cooking, savings tips, and budget friendly recipes. I still feel passionately about saving money, but I feel like…
1. The niche I’m in is a little constricting for me. I would like to change it up a little, but I’m not sure exactly how.
2. My lifestyle has changed since I started eating gluten free and it’s hard to fit it into the mold. I formed my base of readers around gluten filled food and now that has all changed…so I’m not sure how to handle that.
These are just some of the bloggy things that have been on my mind for some time. I’m going to spend January working on my goals for the new year. I’m also going to spend time working on the blog – just behind the scenes. I want to come up with a plan for the year and determine where I want to take the blog.
I’ve worried about how the lack of posting will effect my traffic, how many people will forget about the blog if I don’t put out new posts every week, and on and on. I’ve decided though, that this is something I need to do and want to do…so that’s what I’m going to do.
There is over three years of posts on here. Take some time and go through old stuff…there are some good posts and recipes hidden in the archives.
Looking for suggestions? Here are some of my favorites:
New to Freezer Cooking?
Strategies to Savings (maybe start with $40 grocery budget or menu planning)
Cleaning Posts (Get organized and deep clean your kitchen or clean your refrigerator)
Recipes (Crock Pot, Freezer Pleasers, and Soups are popular in January)
Even though I won’t be posting, I will still be around. I will be checking and responding to comments and emails! Please send me an email or leave me comment with your thoughts on what kinds of posts you would like to see on The Cutting Back Kitchen this year!
