I’m Bacckkk! And a {NEW} Feature!

by Katie on January 30, 2013

Hey there!  Have you missed me?  I know it’s not quite February yet, but I missed you all so I came back a little early ;)

It was really nice to step away for awhile, and I needed it, but I’m glad to be back!  I took some time to sit down and work on some behind the scenes stuff here on the blog.  Take a look around…do you notice anything new?

Give up?

Here’s some of the new stuff around here…

  • I added several photos on the sidebar with pin it buttons.  It may seem like not a big deal, but for this html coding idiot it was a big accomplishment.  I’m not going to tell you how long it took me to figure it out and get it right?!?  So do me a favor and pin away!
  • I added a “Save Recipe” button to each recipe post.  Now you can save them to your own online recipe box (more details coming soon).
  • I started going back through old posts and making the photos “pin-worthy” and reformatting the recipes into the new recipe format so you can save them to your recipe box (plus they just look better).
  • I added a “Pin It” button to the images in a post.  Just move your mouse over the photo and you will see it.  I would appreciate it if you would keep pinning material of mine that you find to be useful.

New Feature Coming Soon…Flashback Friday

I’ve also decided to start up a new weekly feature called “Flashback Friday”. Each Friday (starting February 1) I will highlight a post from the archives that feels a little neglected. It could be a super handy kitchen tip that I posted way back when that needs a little love or maybe it will be a recipe that was a hit with you all back when it was new.  This week it will be a Valentine’s post!

What brought this about was my friend and I were talking about a recipe binder she made from TCBK recipes. She said she came across so many recipes that she wanted to make when they were posted and had forgotten about – I wrote them and I even forget about some of them. I thought it would be cool to come up with a good way to highlight some of these posts and bring them back to life.

It will be a surprise from week to week, but I can assure you it will be a great forgotten favorite that I know you will like!

Do you like this new feature?  Do you have a favorite recipe of kitchen tip from The Cutting Back Kitchen?

If so I would love to hear what it is so I can feature it soon!  Leave me a comment or shoot me an email!

YAY! I was so excited to see a CBK email in my inbox this morning. It was truly like a Christmas present under the tree waiting to be wrapped. :) I LOVE the look of the blog… The pics on the side are super cute. Once I master pinterest (I need help), I will pin away.

Yes, Rylee and I LOVE our CBK Binder. It is beautiful and so very handy to have right in the kitchen, or right beside me when I am menu planning. It is hard to believe that there are 300+ recipes on this precious blog… that’s not even counting tips!!

I can’t wait for Flashback Friday!!! A couple of our favorites are the Zesty BBQ Chicken and of course Green Chile Pineapple Pork.

Love ya.

Hello Katie,

My favorite, most used, recipe is the Chicken Tortilla Soup! My family loves it and so easy to make and freezer friendly. Also, I love the crafts, especially the Christmas ornament and the cookie recipe book. Welcome back. I really like the added pictures on the side bar. Wanda
