Do you hate the mess that cooking bacon brings?

I sure do. I won’t cook it in a skillet because I hate all that grease flying. Usually I just cook it in the microwave, but that is kind of messy, a little unpredictable, and I hate the smell of it in my microwave. Surely I’m not the only bacon complainer out there, right?!?

A long time ago I heard of baking it, but for some reason I just kept on making it in my mediocre fashion. Until one day I decided to take charge and try something new. And oh my goodness, baking is the only way to go with bacon. There’s not a huge mess, it’s easy, and best of all the bacon tastes so much better. You get a nice crisp bacon without it being all chewy or burnt.

How to Bake Perfect Bacon in the Oven


  • bacon
  • aluminum foil


  1. Line a baking sheet with foil.
  2. Arrange slices of bacon on the foil lined sheet. Place in a cold oven. Close the oven door and preheat the oven to 400.
  3. Let bake for 17-20 minutes. As soon as the bacon is golden brown it is done, you don't want it too crisp. Remove the pan from the oven. Transfer the bacon slices to a paper towel lined plate to drain a little.

Sounds way easier than using a skillet. I also don’t like the smell, the grease, etc. We usually eat turkey bacon. Do you think the temp and time would be the same?

Kimberly, it sure is easier!! You could definitely use turkey bacon and I would do the same directions/temp, but watch the time…it could get done quicker.

I made bacon this way last week and it was GREAT! I will never cook it on the stove top again!!
