Gift Ideas for the Book Lover {My 5 Favorite Books of the Year}

by Katie on December 9, 2013

Got a book lover on your Christmas list?

I thought it would be fun to share my some book gift ideas with you!  If you haven’t from all the book reviews I post…I’m quite the book nerd.

I’ve narrowed it down and these are my Top 5 Favorite Books of 2013.

It was really, really hard to narrow it down. I’ve read 60 some books this year and there have been some GREAT ones! If you want to see the books I’m reading you can follow my Book Read in 2013 Pinterest board.

I mostly read Christian fiction, so that’s what I’m sharing today! And if you look close you will notice that all but 1 are historical. I love historical books!!

Christmas Ideas for the Book Lover

Before we get to the books I want to share something this Books I’ve Read Mini Journal is one of them.  My sister got me one and I have loved writing the book, author, and a sentence or two about each book. It helps me keep track of what I’ve read!

I think it’s a must for someone that loves to read – and for just over $7 it won’t break the bank!

Kim Vogel Sawyer is an amazing author and I have loved all of her books. BUT Sweet Sanctuary is my favorite of all of them! It takes place during World War 2, which is my favorite era, so that has something to do with it.

We read Not in the Heart in my book club and everyone agreed that we need to add a Chris Fabry book next year!  The ending of the book is fantastic!

Truman Wiley is a new reporter, but has a serious gambling problem. His estranged wife gives the opportunity to write and tell their story of how a death row inmate is willing to give his heart to their son. The problem is that the death row inmate is innocent, so an innocent man must die to save their son. It’s a truly great story!!

Not in the Heart | Chris Fabry

Tricia Goyer is a new to me author this year and I just love her books!! She is amazing!

By the Light of the Silvery Moon is my favorite so far from her! It takes place on the Titanic which I found really interesting!

Yesterday’s Tomorrow takes place in Vietnam during the Vietnam war. It’s about a young journalist who heads off to Vietnam to carry on her with what her father did by sharing what was really going on in the world.

I reviewed Snow on the Tulips recently on the blog and said it had been my favorite book of the year. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the setting in The Netherlands in the final days of World War 2. Great book and based on a true story!

There you have it…my favorite books of the year! They would make great gifts for someone who likes to read or maybe for yourself!

What is your favorite book?

I must admit I loved Chris Fabry’s book when we read it for book club. It was a really good story that I couldn’t put down. Kim Vogel Sawyer is one of my very favorites and I am looking forward to reading Sweet Sanctuary this year for book club. :)

I will definitely add these others to my “must read” list and maybe ask for one or two for Christmas :)
