Freezing Chipotle Peppers – A Great Way to Spice Up Any Meal

by Katie on February 27, 2015

I love cooking with Chipotle Peppers and add them to all kinds of Mexican meals. The chipotle flavor just adds so much depth and such a unique flavor to meals.

I used some last week and had most of the can leftover. They are awesome, but not something you would add to all of your meals during the week so they are easy to put in the fridge, forget about and then throw away on trash night. So – instead of wasting them I pureed them quickly and froze them in spoonfuls on a plate. Once frozen I just tossed them in a freezer bag.

The whole process took less than 5 minutes with my Ninja Express Chop (affiliate link)  I love that thing for little jobs…it gets used all the time in our kitchen.

When you freeze them like this, all you have to do it pull one or two of the frozen pieces out and add it to your recipe.  I like to make Chipotle Honey Lime Grilled Chicken or Spicy Shredded Beef with chipotles.

Easy and cost effective. A great way to save money is by using the things you already have to the fullest! This is a great way to do that.  How do you save money in the kitchen?

What a FANTASTIC frugal idea!!! I made one of your recipes (spicy beef maybe?) and bought a can and then ended up not using the rest of the can… This is an awesome idea!!! You are so smart!! :)

I love chipotles!! I toss them in everything I can. Next time you open a can you will know what to do with them. :)
